ASCII, yes - art, however, is subjective. I'd consider it ASCII art. There are some things in the world of art that I wouldn't consider artistic. For example, Damien Hurst (sp?) won the Turner Prize for his piece, which was a cow that he had cut in half down the middle, and had put into two tanks of formaldehyde. The two tanks were side by side, with a gap of 2 or 3 feet between the two, so that the viewer could walk between the two for a better look. It's not that I'm squeamish, or offended by the use of an animal in this piece, but I just don't consider it art. However, many of the visitors to Londons' Tate Modern gallery where the exhibit was housed, felt that it was. I condsider Anubis' cauldron piece to be art.
