I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but for some reason this strip
felt like a Sunday strip. I reread it a few times and finally realized
why. I've read somewhere that some newspapers would print Sunday strips
without the top panels, because those were "just the logo". So the comic
writers who wanted to use those first panels made independent jokes as
small preludes to the actual Sunday strips. That's what this reads like.
