 When you say "colorise" it is important to know what medium you will use them in.
For example, mIRC and pIRCh, programs for IRC, would be different than coloring
to use on a web page.

 Concentrating on mIRC (I am familure with mIRC) and notepad, type your picture
in notepad, (I usually save a plain copy). First square up the text, this means
making sure that there are an even amount of spaces in each row of the picture, 
left to right. The easiest way to color would be to use one of the text editors
created for this, the one I use is called PopEdit (for popup editor), however 
you can color in notepad by running mIRC, and while holding the Ctrl key type
the letter k this will leave you with the "colorblock" where you normally type
to chat. Copy and paste the colorblock (the block is equal to $chr(3) however 
it wont type in notepad, to test this, paste the line below in mIRC exactly as 
I have it here)

//say $chr(3) $+ 4,1This would be Red text on a Black field

[] will be used to denote the colorblock through the rest of my explanation.

color codes are 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15

example []8,1 _-~-_[]0  Good   []
        []8,1 ~-_-~[]0 Morning []

this would be a yellow "sun" on a black field, the letters good morning would be in
white, I put the [] on the right to "stop" the color, and to make sure it is even

texts that will have nicknames put in with %nn or %az will need the spaces to be replaced 
with the $chr(0160) code, you can make that code in notepad by holding the ALT key, and 
typing 0160 then letting up the ALT key.

/play textname.txt for plain text
/play -c for text that has the /say []colors text %nn text
