Preferably not. It is quite a bit of work to cut&paste it to an file
and then run uudecode over it and then view it. This to be done by
every person whose newsreader does not do this automatically (all
older ones).

And increasing data transfer volume by 33% is even sillier, when the
contents is ASCII anyway. Its bad enough for GIFs.

In-line ASCII (poster cut&pastes once) is definitely easier and more
economic.

Also some news servers actually auto-kill posts with binaries (which
is what attachments make). And the trend is towards this becoming more
wide spread, now that the specialised binaries groups may be disappearing.
