depends on what preferences they choose... if they don't use a monospace
font you don't stand a chance  :/

well, there's no standard word wrap lenght [although in email clients 72
and 80 chars are often used] so you won't know exactly what line-lenght
the reader has set in his preferences...  therefore it will be very
difficult [if not impossible] to get some textpassages aligned..

on the other hand if you go by hard line-breaks [i.e. enter or return]
you'll know exactly where the center and right border is going to be...
just make sure you choose a short lenght [less than 60 chars should do]
because otherwise your text will look really ugly to somebody which has
a shorter word wrap setting...

the downside of hard returns is that it's a pain if you have to do
corrections as all of the lines below will get affected...

the best solution i can think of is to use an editor where you can set
the word wrap to a fixed lenght [i.e. 60 chars] and that let's you
hard-wrap the text in the end... - and unwrap again if you want to write
additions...

bbedit by barebones is a great text editor that does exactly that [and
more]... unfortunately it's only for mac [or was?] but i'm sure there's
a bunch of windows editors that do the same...
