     Huh.  Strange. Last I knew, the translation on the output side stripped 
all non-ASCII characters.  What were they?

     I did not say that his message contained any non-ASCII characters.  I 
stated;

     Now, that RE-stated, you will see that I explained the situation.  The 
message I received had the | in front of a number or letter;

                               ^^^This produces a color on my system.

     While I know it is a rare occurance but if one posts "rules" he has to 
also abide by them for other systems which do other things.  Sure, there's 
not a lot of systems out there which do this color code system, or have it 
activated if they do but it does affect some of us.
