And I think that's the magic word here - "over reacting" - (ok, 2 words
then). I love this group also. I wish I had the talent that Joan, shimrod,
you and others have, but I don't. Ok, so many of us already know about
Erik's site, and you (and maybe others) wish you didn't have to see mention
of it so often, but there are always new people to the group. I was one such
once, and if Erik hadn't mentioned the page, I might never have known about
it.

It is a worthwhile page. As far as being no better than TV, well, that's
debatable. Not all of us can create graphic art. Some of us can only
appreciate the work of others. I have no specific requests; I just love to
see the work of people with genuine talent. I prefer it here where it is
dynamic, but his web page is a repository of stuff that has gone by that I
might never see again otherwise. Have you been to Joan's page? No better
than TV? Hardly!

I look at pages like Erik's much the way I do art galleries. Do you feel
also that art galleries and museums are no better than TV? Is everything
non-interactive, not worth having? Michelangelo isn't going to do anything
new. If nobody had bothered to preserve what he did do, the world would be a
much poorer place. One day, the people here won't be doing anything new
either. I hope this stuff gets preserved, and I look rather kindly on the
people who have the energy and emotion to take on that task.

TV is not a medium for quality. In terms of creative energy, the web is
still exciting and dynamic. TV is mundane, repetitive, and creatively
stifling. The web may go that route when the advertisers and cable companies
overrun it, but not quite yet. Certainly there is crud on the web, but there
is much that is worthwhile, and a lot of the crud is *so* cruddy that it too
is sort of creative in a schlock kind of way - like all those great
not-quite-grade-B movies that were so unintentionally hilarious.

Well, like everybody else, this is just my opinion.
