Delurking...

I won't be surprised if most of you don't remember me. I hope at least
some do, like Veronica, Joan or llizard... I used to post here for a
little while almost three years ago and I participated in a.a.a
Christmas calendar in '98 (I think) with a "hug" picture. I even used to
regular Veronica's ASCII chat that summer, like diddling with my
self-portrait.

I haven't given up ASCII art, though I had a very long break. My ASCII
art page still exists at
http://www.angelfire.com/mn/Maija/asciiart.html. I have to admit I've
even start drawing ANSI (heretic!), even though I have no BBS history or
such. My first picture even placed 7th in Assembly2k demoparty. </brag>

This week I drew some new ASCIIs... Two umbrellas / sunshades can be
found among my "new" ASCII artpieces

the sweet Matt Groening comic "Akbar and Jeff".

Hmm... Maybe I need some more practice, that looks so ...plain!

Also, the reason why I decided to delurk (redelurk?) is that I am
writing an article about ASCII art for a Finnish computer magazine
Enter. The mag has homepage at http://www.enterlehti.fi, but it's pretty
awful and of course in Finnish.

So... I'll have to introduce people to ASCII art, review some pages and
software, I'm already thinking of ACiDDraw, some other ASCII editors
Figlet and some image->ASCII converter (preferably one with a fancy GUI
so I can get good screen captures ;). Any ideas for what applications to
write about? And of course I have the chance to show some of you
people's artwork!

So... if someone has something against getting fame with their pictures
and URLs, please tell me. ;) I'd be grateful if you posted some of the
very greatest artpieces, preferably in many different styles and those
of you who have very nice signatures (especially those where the picture
is embedded in the text or vice versa), could you post or email them to
me? I haven't collected anything. :( I can of course omit your real
email address if you want me to. And please let me know any ideas, URLs,
pictures, etc you have! I promise you a full credit.
