my ascii doesn't look right

Although I am by no means an ascii artist, I have a questions as to why
when I post something by Netscape news, my signature file gets all
screwed up.

Any ascii art I had included in my sig looks messed, and even this
simple box (see below) does not look right.

Anyone have any suggestions, I have already tried to delete all the
white space after and between the characters but it doesn't work.
