The cashier was asking if you were going to eat it THEN and THERE
-- in the restaurant, on a tray -- as opposed to wanting it packaged
for 'take-away.'

I assume you mean "...in a place where the little kids DON'T blatantly
stare..."  :)

Well, next time, you can reply "No" to the "dud-kes-oh-yo?" question.
They'll put your food in a paper bag, and you can carry it home...or
to some secluded spot in a park, where you can eat in peace.
