Mr. Spock Box appearing at ComiCon!

Yesss-I-can ;} -- because I'll be bringing it with me to ComiCon 94!

Believe It Or Not, I'm holding said cereal box (swaddled in a giant
Zip-Loc) in my hands _right now_!  Enough emailers and Trekkers have
asked about this legend...so it is being gently pressed against my
Commodore 1084S screen, letting its natural radiation field do the
rest (...hey, this is a _great_ way to warm your fingers...).  Hit
*Reverse*, and voila!  [Pardon the "Dark Spock" effect]

True Story:  In the Summer of `69, I hitchhiked across Europe for
three months.  Just before my return flight from Gatwick, I bought
several boxes of Kellogg's Sugar Smacks in a small London grocery.
It wasn't (necessarily) because I knew what Caledonian Airlines'
in-flight meals would be...but that the United Kingdom sold cereal
boxes I had never before seen -- and never would again.

STAR TREK's Mr. Spock was featured on the front of these boxes,
holding a phaser that looked more like a toy squirt-gun/camera.
The back featured pictures of five collector buttons, with art
work on par with Spock's picture (surpassed by ASCII-art below).
It also had the Enterprise flying with its saucer upside-down.

And all sides were covered with information that plumbed new
depths of wry British humour.  They did seem to take TREK's
"5-Year Mission" seriously (note the "To `71" on the front).

"THE STAR TREK PHASER PISTOL - The phaser does anything from
tranquillising a victim to disintegrating steel...SUGAR SMACKS
works on the same energy principle, too."

Further Proof (with b&w photo) is on the cover (with article) in
the #8 issue (1992) of FLAKE Magazine (people actually collect
this stuff), "A friend of Leonard Nimoy recently slapped down
$1000 for one of these boxes as a birthday present for his pal.
He says Nimoy hadn't known it existed."

:@ Whoa!!  Looking at the FLAKE magazine picture...the box looks
_different_, with NASA stickers...and with a 1970 copyright..!
