I hope that's not directed at me.. I'm always careful not to post in HTML.

ROTFLMAO!!! I never saw such a genious ASCII anywhere. That's really
marvelous... Sorry, had to express my feelings on that.

BTW: Why isn't PeteCasso (or what he called himself) around anymore? I miss
him somehow... Maybe I was off for too long *sigh* I simple _loved_ his
ASCII's.

Especially for you, a compilation of ALL Pete Casso's work...

Nag ^275

and of course:

FROGSTEIN AND BIRDSTEIN, Variations on a theme
      TEXT X    {
 .oo <" ) TEXT Y
( -) ( <)
 " " ""

With some vatiations on the 'o' and '(' and ')' characters.

Pretty much sums it up.

I can't say I miss him though. Especially for the first reason.

Maybe he lost his ISP account due to the complaints. (which there were many,
I'm sure.) Perhaps he realised that he was trolling and left. Perhaps he
just realised what an idiot he was being and decided to get a life that
didn't involve provoking those who care about things that matter.

I'm not complaining about his ASCIIs, I'm talking about the rest of his
posts that added noise and arguements to the newsgroup about things that
shouldn't have needed arguing about.

Hmmm, I haven't noticed that when I was around last year (about the
same time of the year, mabe you remember?). Well, just remembered him,
and his frogstein-cartoons came into my mind. I noticed that he hasn't
done much different things - but the frogstein-series was kinda funny ;)

Maybe I'll learn to hang on to another series (there are some around?)
- let's see how it works out :)

And to add another message to what editor we are using:

I for myself am a proud user of Vim - the Vi IMproved [1]. It has
fabulous great functions that are lacking in most other editors, and is
available for almost _any_ platform (including mostly any flavour of
UN*X, WinXX, DOS, Amiga, OS/2, and many more...). Give it a try :)

Hey, feel free to start a new ASCII-TooN!
I've been looking for a character that has all I need, but that seems to be a
bit of a problem
Either the face is too small to show emotions or the entire thing gets too
complicated
to be understandable.

Maybe a challenge to the group:

A TOON CHARACTER.

I am afraid but my imagination is too weak to do such stuff. I couldn't even
think of a single strip - not to speak of a whole series...

Well, I personally think a genious text makes up a not so genious art.
It's the joke that counts, isn't it? And that can also be seen in a not
so fabulous art. So this could be a good idea for people who think that
their art isn't that good ;)

And, to be not too oftopic, here is a nice (at least I think so) thing
I made:

             \|/
            .-*- _ _ ___

Btw: I'm in the development-team *proudofthat*

 It's a first try - but I think it's not too bad :) Maybe I'll diddle
it later - for different looks and mouths. Or I can even think of an
animation that explodes in the end.... *klickediklack* Oh, have to
send this posting first ;)

 Have a nice time!

*smirks* You are not into Linux - are you? ;) Do you think any Linux-game
would be used if it doesn't support network-play? *giggle*
But to be honest - the current version can hardly played well on longer
distances or bad connection for the whole window is send through the net - but
the current development efforts are to make it true client/server based via
TCP and/or UDP. Maybe you wanna try the current version, anyway? It's already
fabulous, you can do your own levels (I did one that's totally crazy)....

Well, I first played Dynablaster on an Amiga and got addicted to it ;))
That's why it was obvious to me to join the development team for xblast *hehe*

I still use them ;) On my old c64 - where 64k total memory still is enough
and people optimized their code... Today the only statement you get about
optimization: "Upgrade to a faster machine!" *argl*

I've a few of those A500s too myself.. :-) I only use the one that has
a harddisk, tho. All in all, I like the A4000 more. :-)

Build yourself a 4-player adapter, invite 4 buddies along, buy some
beer (optional) and start playing dynablaster with 5 players!
Loadsafun for everyone. :-) I still think the Amiga version of
dynablaster/bomberman is the best released.

So Dynablaster is like Bomberman, then? I must say that I've never actually
tried it. I was given my original Amiga by my uncle, with a large pile of
game boxes ... I've had them for quite a few years now, but I've still
managed to not get around to trying some of them! :o)

Well, I bet you haven't tried xblast *evilgrin* It simply is great -
there are renovation bombs which I don't know from anywhere else, a
switch color and switch position extra, ... You can do your own
extensions for it is Open Source (and even GPL!), do your own levels,
etc. etc. :-)

Well, Dynablaster and Bomberman (and even xblast) have the same
gameplay - but they have different extras which make the game playable
in different styles. E.g. in Bomberman you have sort of a trampolin,
teleportpads and some other nice gadgets, Dynablaster is more likely the
original - low featured version with no special extras (besides some in
single player mode...). And finally xblast - well, it's still expanding
- and that sometimes even hourly *hehehe*

Looks great 8) And I think mine won't wrap (for slrn [1] doesn't do so
AFAIK). I just added an action replay cartridge, if you mind ;)

I did back when I was still enthusiastic about linux and had it on my
desktop as well as on my server .. (nowadays it's only the server) and
wasn't too impressed at that time. :-) I guess I'll check it out some
time again, it's probably improved quite a bit.

Yeah, dynablaster is very basic and that's what I love about it..
flame, bomb and skull (random advantages/disadvantages when you take
that one) I've tried some bomberman on the PSX, but that was too
complicated imho.. all those teleporters and millions of different
icons to collect.

I've played the original coin op too, very good.. Maybe better than
the Amiga after all, but I've played it far more on the amy than on
the arcade machine..

That breadbox is a pain to draw with those minimal slants.. :-)
