why?

I had to do it for my Unix class it was part of an assignment I needed
to make a menu from user inputed values so I asked in the
newsgroup....It wasn't that easy for me to do in fact Im still working
on it while loops with nested whiles Im not good at
unix shell or any other code type programs but I find it very
interesting.....
that's why I was asking..................................

it only for the elite and knowledgeable in making ASCII?  Yet, I  see there are
posts here that have nothing to do with the subject.

If you mean the message that seemed like it should have been an e-mail
to someone named Chris, it doesn't seem to have been cancelled.

It's right there. By the way, this isn't a "board", it's a newsgroup, a
part of Usenet. You can learn about Usenet on www.usenet.org. It has a
nice blurb and a link to a nice FAQ.

This isn't a message board; it's a newsgroup. It isn't moderated, and nobody
can take down posts. Your previous message was only posted 20 minutes before
this one, so it might not be visible everywhere yet.

People usually try to keep on topic, or include an ObASCII (obligatory ASCII)

 Joaquim,  Yes it was that very post,  the one that was an e-mail, that I
posted here, because I never received an answer from Chris.  (How stupid  I
must've seemed).  I think you've answered my question, however.  The reason for
my thinking that this was a message board,  is because it's set up very much
like that of AOL's and I thought Chris had a thing going there with his own
message board....lol.

I'm all new to this, but I think I've got the hang of it now.  I had  to go
down to Preferences and set them and now I  see my anterior post. 

I do appreciate  all the info that you've both provided on
"news:alt.ascii-art,"  being a newsgroup.  I'll look into it and see what it's
all about.  Have a nice day!
