Hello, I am looking for Florida State University related ascii art...
the uni seal, logos, etc.

Please email to cle...@dqc.org

Because I can't draw?
Geez, sorry. I kinda thought requests were acceptable.

My mistake.

they are, would help to post a link to the thing you want ascci-ified
it prolly wont be to hard to do and really you might try yourself,
if it were difficult I guess either no one will do it do to the overwhelming
dificulties, or rise to the challenge and (blah blah blah) so then in
the grander scheme of things, well things are grand. Damn I lost the
point here somewhere..... AH yes, School Logo! yes well post a link
wont you.........

I have confidence that you can. It would likely take you a very
long time, however, since you -- like myself -- art new to it.

I think that they are. Some folks just get tired of always seeing
requests without the requester posting evidence of even trying once to
make what they've asked for.

Why bother if there are pre existing pics?

Just because one tries to make a certain design, it doesn't mean
that they will be able to do it well within the time frame that they are
given.

she says: if one needs an ascii version of an image and tries to make
it himself as a beginner it doesnt mean that he will be able to do it
well within the time he has got till he needs it

for me this is perfectly understandable english ;)

The person may have tried to make the ascii pic, but could not
complete it or do a very good job within a certain limited timeframe -- in
which case, it doesn't seem wrong to me to ask for some assistance.

That's what I thought. But what's that got to do with the message she

I meant "Why bother" trying to make it yourself if there are pre
existing pics, not "why bother asking".

1: you have just said what he said

2: ascii artists don't need to draw something upon a request.. they
can also point out the people to existing arts (as practiced many
times here) cause they know ascii art libraries they can look in or
even have some old postings or an ascii-arts library themselves

Because they just want a picture of something. They're probably not
into creating ascii art. Please pay attention.

sometimes people want to use a picture with their text
sometimes their hardware-transport or transport-medium
will not permit (8-bit) graphic images
so they decide to use an ascii (7-bit) picture instead [*]

this is why you may find people calling into this forum
"can anyone tell me where i may find ....... ?"

people that pass thru' here may have already seen what
they are looking for and point them in that direction
or may say "here is one i did earlier" or whatever

[*] before you say "they should they upgrade!"
the reality is you may find you are working on a
    giga-bit machine with hi-gfx and go-faster stripes
in your plush office in the center of the metropolis
but your destination is the depths of darkest-industrial
    england to an ancient teletype

erm... i don't know :)
it _was_ made into an xmas tree but i deleted it
and just left the top bit
it evolved into part of the space-ship (obascii)
but was removed... so it remains
it sparks ideas for me at the moment but hasn't
actually become part of a full ascii-pic
