question and looking for ascii animators?

hi

I run a small site for creative people with disabilities a t
www.inspire.melb.net and would love to show some work by ascii animators if
anyone is interested. I know generally what ascii art is, but was wondering
if anyone can give me a short explanation of ascii animation is and how it's
achieved?

ASCII Animation : ASCII Art set to motion.  A series of stills played successively (like a movie).

ASCII animations as well as a tuturial on how to make them [with HTML/javascript, I believe]. She
also has links to other artist's sites.

http://www.asciimation.co.nz/ - Simon Jansen's site with a partial ACII animation of Star Wars
(the original).

http://www.jave.de/ - Markus Gebhard's JavE - The BEST ASCII utility (animation or otherwise)
available to date.  There are also examples of animations done with JavE, and links to other
artist's sites.

I can't vouch for this editor as I haven't used it.  There are a couple examples of animations
done with this editor here.
