|Here comes a new Figlet/Figwin font. It works with version 2.2 ( other ?). The
|font (Jacky.flf) is attached in a UUencoded file.

I haven't tried it as yet, but I'll give it a go in a sec.
Meph... That would have been better posted just pasted into the message -
Free Agent destroys the whole post when I uudecode, and it takes extra
effort to decode in manually.

     He must have done a lot of new figlet fonts because he did five of mine
and this one he posted.

Happy birthday Martin.

You have a problem with Freeagent and I have one with Outlook. The
program removes left aligned single space characters. Therefor I
couldn't post the font as text without problems.
In a 2-3 weeks I will upload a (zipped ;)) file with ASCII fonts
and backgrounds to my web page. You can download it or I could send
the font to you via mail.

I've looked at the font now (I copied it to a text file and opened it in
WinZip) and it's pretty nifty! :o)

Fonts as in FIGlet fonts? I have my ickle tiny font mga2line which as the
name suggests is 2-line, and Llizard's ejm3line but I can't really offer
that without clearing it with Llizard herself.. what do you think Llizard?

too.

I tested it in a freebie download version of FIGWin. I note that
some Figlet fonts that come with FIGWin supply characters from
other alphabets (Greek, Cyrillic, Hebrew, Japanese katakana) and
various other Unicode goodies. Which of these scripts do people
actually use in figletised form?

I put this in in jave works fine. If you are interested its at
www.jave.de   It has a tool for creating fonts. Thinking what you
are asking folks created the letters from the actual font then built
the file as you did with Georgi16. Not much help eh.

It's a good rendition of Georgia.

Do that .. and notify Markus Gebhard , the author of JavE that you relased 
the font(s).

Speaking of JavE .. If some of my more recent suggestions make it into JavE 
we could soon see MANY more fonts in JavE.

I'm also working on some fonts myself .. or that it .. I have been working 
on them but have them on hold right now.

I only use the normal pure ascii charset and a danish,swedish and german 
characters.

Now I have. I had come across it before, but, when the idea occurred to me
to do a FIGlet font, I didn't remember JavE. Now I wish I had. Render some
text as a GIF (even good old Paint is up to this) and use JavE's GIF-to-text
converter. Brilliant. It's a bit inconvenient to get the FIGcharacter
lined up on character boundaries the way I'd like (e.g. it might be impossible
to pick a magnification which renders a vertical line as MM rather than
,MI or something), but it helps.

My *next* FIGlet font will be a bit better than that first effort.

Not neccessary: I downloaded the font and added it to my font library.
The updated font library will be available on my site soon.

I already suggested Markus before seeing this post, that JavE could expand 
it's font tool to also render truetype/opentype fonts to ascii using 
algorithms from the image to ascii convertor .. or perhaps the linedrawing 
or fractal algoritms.
If implemented it could seriously expand the amount of fonts useable from 
the current 195 to several thousands ( since there are sooooo many truetype 
fonts that can be downloaded from the net )

He was very positive towards the idea, but was currently busy with work that 
paid his bills. (understandable)

As promised a week ago, I have put on my web site at

a FIGfont rendition of Georgia (Georgia11, this one). It was derived
from JavE's GIF-to-ASCII conversions of Georgia glyphs, so the
proportions are right, this time.

Greek and Cyrillic letters, too!
