I am a programing student and I am making a simple blackjack game in C.
I would like to be able to display the cards that are out but have never
been good at ascii art. Though i have tried. most of my attempts were
more humerous than cardlike. I some out could whip me up a few cards
that i could base a deck on that would be GREAT!! The one restriction
is that the cards can only be 10 characters tall and a reasonable number
wide.

Thanks in advance!

Also, could someone possibly come up with a pickle for my sig? I have been
lookin for one for a while.

I don't have a full pack, but funnily enough I

I don't know how graphical you'd want it, but this is a try from me:

____    ____    ____    ____
|2   |  |A   |  |Q   |  |T   |
|(\/)|  | /\ |  | /\ |  | &  |
| \/ |  | \/ |  |(__)|  |&|& |
|   2|  |   A|  | /\Q|  | | T|
`----`  `----'  `----'  `----'

I'm not completely happy with the sign for clubs though..
(maybe one of the ASCII-wizards that roam this place can improve it?)
But maybe this will work for you...

Greetz,

Maarten

A quick bit of design on my text-editor gave these...

Ok, here you go -- 10 characters tall and 12 wide. At this size it's no
good trying to draw a card with, for instance, ten little clubs spread
out on it, so each card has one big symbol in the middle.

The Ace of spades:

.----------.
A
s   /\
  //\\
//##\\
((####))
`")("'
  '""`  s
        A
`----------'

Any other spade (in this case, the 2):

.----------.
2
s   /\
  /##\
/####\
(######)
`")("'
  '""`  s
        2
`----------'

A club (in this case, the 3):

.----------.
3
c   ee
  (##)
,>##<,
(######)
"')(`"
  '""`  3
        2
`----------'

A Diamond (in this case, the 4):

.----------.
4
d   /\
  /::\
/::::\
\::::/
  \::/
   \/   d
        4
`----------'

And a heart (in this case, the 5).

.----------.
5
h ,-..-.
/::`'::\
\::::::/
\::::/
  \::/
   \/   h
        5
`----------'

With these designs it should be fairly easy to set up a C procedure
which draws the first and last rows automatically, the second and
second-to-last rows based on the card value, and the other rows using a
switch statement for the suit (with an extra option for the Ace of
Spades).

And finally, a design for face-down cards.

.----------.
$%$*=-=*
=*$%$*=-
=-=*$%$*
$*=-=*$%
$%$*=-=*
=*$%$*=-
=-=*$%$*
$*=-=*$%
`----------'

My initials aren't on these, so as not to distract the player :-), so I
have two conditions if you use these designs: (1) I get a mention in the
credits/about screen/whatever, and (2) you e-mail me a copy of the
source code when you've finished.

Have fun.

As far as coding in C goes, I like this design also, so I had to add to
it! A rediddle to the backs to make them look like a "Bee Brand" Card
which most casinos use to prevent cheating. And the funny thing about
that is magicians love to use them, but I cannot tell you why...secrets
must stay secrets in the magic world! *S*

If you use my card backs, you can still give Matthew all the credit,

Hope they aren't too confusing. The "o" was the only thing I could think
