It should be 2^(n+1)-2 Then when n=1, people = 2 n=2, people = 6 n=3, people = 14 etc... for 20 lots of this you'd end up with 1,048,574 people, presuming each one tells only 2 poeple who haven't been told before.

In my estimation this is a BIG assumption. The real answer to this question could never be known without actually trying it...
