Hi all,

Not ascii art per se, so just tell me if this is too off-topic.

What is a good way to rasterise (draw) the stylized M (/\), as in
(\/)yrkraverk for the favicon in my (still not very much of) ascii art
site

  http://www.myrkraverk.com/ascii/

?

My own attempt can be seen on the site, or you can look at the image
directly with

  http://www.myrkraverk.com/ascii/favicon16.png

I had to cheat, and make the ( ) taller than the /\ to keep them from
touching -- to me, it feels too squeezed. I just hope it still feels
somewhat ascii art like.

Is that:

  M  =>  |\/|  =>  (\/)

or:

  W  =>  \/\/  =>  (/\)

or:

something else and I completely misunderstood the question

?

Does the word "myrkraverk" mean something or is it just yet another
cute name?

You have more pictures that you can put there (cat, house and
train...). :-)

Why not?

So why do you have (/\) on that icon and not (\/) ?

OK...

Yes.

It means "dark deed," from old norse myrkr and verk -- and I've been
using it as my 'net-nym for close to 8 years -- originally meant for a
video game company (which of course never got started). There is also
a story from my youth that's not very interesting.

Nope, never did the train -- and I'm not in a hurry to update the site
;-P

Why not make a file called "simple doodles"? Then add more files with
more sophisticated stuff when you make that. Do you have any theme of
any kind to work on? How about "tools" (you already have a knife)? Or
"animals"?

Becouse I was doing it late at night and about to fall asleep?
Probably. ;)

Becouse I don't like webmastering in general? Or maybe I just want to
put up something slightly more tangible than simple doodles? Who
knows?

I have that, privately.

Apart from doodles, I'm attemting a picture inspired by a paragraph in
1633 by Eric Flint & David Weber; available from the Baen Free
Library.

I also write, and code, for fun; a prototype script of mine does this,
with figlet:
   ___
" / _ \ las, sir, in the most unexpected manner. After a long
/ /_\ \ talk with the harbor-master, Captain Leclere left Naples
 | _ | greatly disturbed in mind. In twenty-four hours he was
 | | | | attacked by a fever, and died three days afterwards. We
\_| |_/ performed the usual burial service, and he is at his
rest, sewn up in his hammock with a thirty-six pound
shot at his head and his heels, off El Giglio island. We
bring to his widow his sword and cross of honor. It was worth
while, truly," added the young man with a melancholy smile, "to
make war against the English for ten years, and to die in his bed
at last, like everybody else."
