Maybe you can't, but you do - or at least the script you posted does, if
the quote is long enough. (And I've seen at least one clipped quote in
your sig.) If nothing else works, you could just coldbloodedly remove all
the quotes that don't fit from the file.

Anybody know why Netscape clips the last lines of my signature?
Is there a way to get around it?

Netscape hates .sigs with more than 4 lines, which is alas the 'legal'
maximum. Remember, netscape is a good web viewer with an e-mail and
newsgroup reader bolted no for after-thought.

Anyway, IMHO half the challenge is making a .sig that can fit 4 to 6 lines.

Use Tin!

Well, that's kinda impossible... I never know how long the quote is gonna be

Uhm, not. Netscape 3.0, perhaps. But Netscape 4.0's E-mail and Newsgroup
reader rocks! Much better than Agent once you take an hour to get used to
it... Especially since it puts everything (web, e-mail, newsgroups) into
once nice simple interface.

Oh, and I never had problems with my old 8-line sigs...

Hmm...you are comparing cabbages with apples:

Netscape is a WWW WEB BROWSER...

My experience is the exact opposite!

The news program in Netscape 3 is very nice (though I found out that
that only applies to the unix version. I tried the one in my mother's
Netscape 3, Win 3.11, and that really sucked! They may both be called
"Netscape 3", but they are _not_ the same program!).

I _hate_ when I accidentally start the "news program" in Netscape 4!!!
It changes my _email_ files! (WTF is a *news* program doing changing my
*email* files??? I do my email with Pine, and prefer to continue that
way. I certainly do not want to use the same program for email and
news).

*grrrr*

Seriously Ojo, I reccommend that you get Free Agent if you have a Windows
machine... It's a very nice newsreader and it lets me use sigs as large as I
like.

One of my old ascii sigs, from the days when I used to bother with them. Now
I`m only subscribed to a.a-a again, I might as well go back to using the
ascii sigs as defaults... I kept posting huge sigs in other newsgroups
before so I had to change my default... !

Wrong.
Netscape is a brand, like Toyota:

Netscape NAVIGATOR is a WWW WEB BROWSER

Netscape MESSENGER (and the integrated NETSCAPE NEWSGROUP) are online and/or
offline newsgroup readers.

The difference is like a car (for going places) and a truck (for doing
things and hauling loads).

I have yet to see anything that Free Agent can do (yes, I used to use it,
back when I used IE) that Netscape Messenger/Newsgroup can't, other than
remove a message on a press of DELETE (which I don't need anyway because I
want to be able to go back and re-read a thread - I'll let my settings to
remove messages older than 4 days take care of that).

And, I appreciate having my e-mail/newsgroups merged into one common
interface and program.

Oh, and Veronica, what are you TALKING about? Unless Netscape 3 was
seriously fucked up, your newsgroups would not alter your e-mail files.
they're kept in totally different areas (netscape\users\valdus\mail\ and
netscape\users\valdus\news\ are as equally seperated as the "Local Mail" and
"news.server.com" base folders in the folder list.

No chance in hell! Remove all those good quotes, more likely you'll have to do
without
drawings!

That's your opinion. My opinion - news and mail are two very different
things. I want to do different things with them. I prefer to use
different programs that allow me to do these different things the way I
want to... For example, I want to be able to read news inside an xterm
window, logged in from somewhere else, quickly, but when I read news I
prefer to be able to click on URLs or see pictures (non-ascii) directly
in the news window (and I don't feel the need to "check my news" quickly
while logged in from somewhere else the way I do with my email). There
are other differences that makes one program better for one job and
another better for another job.

Different tasks, different tools.

> Oh, and Veronica, what are you TALKING about? Unless Netscape 3 was

Oh, it does (such things depend on the system you use... *kicks
sysadmin*). Pine (my email program) arranges things in one way. Then, if
I accidentally open the email program in Netscape (3 or 4), it sees the
order that Pine has created and thinks "I don't like it this way, I'll
change it to look the way I want it to like" (and even then it doesn't
_work_). Then I try to use Pine, and it sees an order it doesn't
recognise and gets totally confused and doesn't know what to show! (and
Netscape creates folders I never asked for and don't want). So,
suddenly, I have two programs that don't work.

There's more, e.g. Netscape "downloads" my email and places it in a file
~username/Mail/Inbox (on my account) instead of the way Pine does it by
reading a file /var/spool/mail/~username (on "the system", i.e. NOT on
my account). This eats quota!!! I don't like that! AND when Pine finds
the file "Inbox" it gets confused...

The _news_ program in Netscape 3 doesn't mess with my _email_ files. The
one in Netscape 4 does (since, unlike Netscape 3, it uses the same
program for news and mail).

> they're kept in totally different areas (netscape\users\valdus\mail\ and

If I try Netscape 4, I can't get just the news program, I automatically
get all the email junk too. It sees the order that Pine created and
thinks "this is wrong! I have to change this!", but I don't want those
changes...

(and I don't "download" news to my account, I just _read_ it off the
server, that is, I do if I use Netscape 3, but not if I try to use
Netscape 4, which "downloads" the news messages... again - eats quota!)

i'm making an assumption here ... your .sig is (or can be) greater than
14 lines ? ... and that its being selected by an auto-bot script ?
if its the one posted to alt.ascii-art.animation ? (perl5) ... well ...
that script only reserved space for 14 lines ? ... mebbe i'm off track ?
 ... dunno

[ps] nice sig pic :)
