GASP! That site is soo coool. The first thing I looked at was Normal Rockwell's "Freedom from Want". I have a program which will convert images to ASCII, but is there a Windows program which will convert images to HTMLized color versions such as the ones seen on this site as easily as programs like Email Effects? Or must one put as much labor into it as Picasso? It seems like it would be possible, even if one had to first convert the GIF/BMP into a 16 color image for better quality ASCII output. Thanks for the info in advance. And on a side note, and I'm hopefully not insulting anyone, but do you guys know about the Monotype.com font? IMHO, it's the best font around for viewing ASCII. due to fewer bumps and ridges on characters, if one is looking for smoother lines. Just thought I'd throw that in for an FYI. But that isn't labor if you enjoy it. :) Besides, with programs like Front Page Express or Claris Home Page Lite where it colors it for you as you tag it on the screen, it's easy. Besides, what you would be looking for is an ASCII to HTML converter, and this thread has been talked to death here, IMO. Or if you convert it to ANSI (colored text) you mine as well just use a VGA to ANSI converter. >It seems like it would be possible, even if one had to first convert >the GIF/BMP into a 16 color image for better quality ASCII output. > >Thanks for the info in advance. > >And on a side note, and I'm hopefully not insulting anyone, but do you >guys know about the Monotype.com font? Could you please send it to me by e-mail? I have a large collection of
fonts but I've never heard of that one.
The monospaced font I use is Lucida Console. It gives a special touch to
the ASCII pictures - it also makes them smoother. I don't like Courier very
much, neither to view ASCII pictures nor to read plain text.
