Colin, I'm here, wishing I had Netscape 4 so I could look at your
creations. I'm very fond of Mic's dachshund animation. But if I look at
the Netscape 3 coloured version, Netscape invariably crashes moments
later.

Maybe I'll be able to look at it tomorrow when I will briefly have
access to a Netscape 4.

[][ hi .. those versions .. Method-3 and Method-4 .. are still very
experimental ... Netscape 3 and some versions of Explorer 3 seem to
produce a toxic strobe effect with that code ... i have more-stable
versions that i shall be replacing them with which also have a
background colour on/off switch
... they've been set to run for a short time and then stop .. so your
browser may not have actually crashed ?
... i've been too hasty putting them onto the anims-page and they'll
prob'ly get relegated back to the anim/test directory ...

if you have the time ... try to explain to me what problems you've
 encountered (by e-mail if necessary) installing Netscape 4 ...
perhaps i could be some help ?

... one thing i disliked about it was something called AIM .. some
kind of messaging server ...
  would you like to install AIM ?  ...No!
  but its free!                    ...No!
  installing anyway!               ...Damn!
...and then it pops-up when i don't want it to and asks me to sign-up
and then automatically tries to dial-out!
it took me some time to wipe all its hooks it off my system
