Hi All, I'm relatively new to this form of art, so all advice, input, criticism etc. will be appreciated. This is a picture entitled "Charisma". It's of a girl I once knew (drawn from memory). I could'nt get AOL to quit messing with the font (kept making it look like "The Scream") so instead of posting the picture with this message I've included a link. It can be found at: http://members.aol.com:/ott0matic1/ascii/charanet.txt In particular, I would value advice on how others handle eyes. I wanted them dark and prominent but the #'s I used to achieve this don't give the effect I want. Hope the link works, and that you guys don't think the pic is too awful (but if you do I'd rather you be honest). PS Charisma is just the name of the picture not the girl. ][ncogni']['o
First up... Don't worry about the font that YOU see.... we all see it in the way that we choose... re the #, I don't like it, either.... I personally don't favour the 1/2 Gifscii style, but the pic is good.

It seems like though there are the correct number of characters per line some are getting condensed down (e.g. the ***'s). I can't find any option within AOL's (3.0) newsreader to change the font type, maybe someone with AOL knows. But I still wonder why some pictures look fine and other's don't. I liked what you did with Charisma, though it's still not the effect I'm looking for, you gave me a good idea to experiment with (dBBb), I like how this suggests the top half of an oval. I don't know for AOL (I hate AOL), but Netscape Navigator and IE5 I would be able to help with. Very full of characters, a bit like what your piccy looks like... personally, I prefer lower density pictures... just a preference, though.
