A bit of advice

Need a bit of advice.
I reconverted an old design I made more than 10 years ago.
I have decided to restart all over again my webpages in my spare time
;-) and give it a new look. This time around, I want to use mostly
ASCII. It will be mostly french, with quite a few in english later.
Not being a great artist, I borrow some of yours design(I leave all
your SIG).
For now, I want advice from some of the pro on what to use for windows
on the Chateau Frontenac. This is a caracteristic of Qubec city.
Here are two designs.
Which one do you prefer? and any suggestion to improve?

the "squares" you used are _not_ ASCII the H or possibly the L I used
even UuUu for shingles
other than that I liked the [] for the windows, but both your window
looks are ok to me

The first one uses non-ascii stuff () and IMHO the second one looks better too, and also more refreshing as you're making use of the H rather than just using 'standard' ascii art characters (not a v. good explanation, but still). However, I've never been to Qu[e with funny bit]bec - is there a picture we can compare it to? Stuart -- o |\ _[] L_ === Stuart Moore []\, stm
i know nothing about ascii art. but i prefer the first one because it looks like windows. i don't care for the repeated H stuff. the boxes, i like. Yeah a link to a picture would give us an idea of if it's close to real life and give hints on how to improve it
