This is the first proper 'ASCII art' I have ever done! I'm not quite sure
who he is, but he looks like he's a high ranking military bloke!(I'm not too
sure why I put the earing in! -maybe he's a pirate!) oh well, do what you
want to do to him!

I thnk thats a very good start, maybe adjust the mouth? 
mouth shapes and eyes are always a challenge I think.
