Subject: ASCII-ART & Outlook Express 5.0 Question

Ascii-Art is getting killed from Outlook Express. Is there a way to fix
this?

Outlook 4.72 always removes a blank single space on every line when sending
a message. Outlook 5.0 will add 'file:' in front of every place that has
'//'
in the email. This makes the sending and viewing ascii-art impossible in the
newsgroups and in email. How can we set up Outlook 5 to read and send
ASCII-ART the way it was meant without using HTML?

Peace from all of us at alt.ascii-art,

Donovan

Cool. I hope we get an answer. The Screen Savers are nifty.

I am using Outlook Express 5 and can see the art on the newsgroup all right,
and most of my art stays intact. Most. There is a button at the top of the
window where you write email that says Format. If you click on it, HTML and
Plain Text are listed, and one will have a dot in front showing which one
you have currently. You can click on Plain Text and it won't use HTML... I
don't know if the program comes like that or if at some point somebody
changed it to be like that on my computer, but it works... setting it up to
read stuff in a font that works for ascii art is more difficult, and I don't
remember how I did it... I'll try to remember.

Hey this may be good nes, but try this just in case....copy and past this
then send it to the newsgroup to see how it turns out with that setting.
(I'll bet Andrew already tried this but we'll see.) Please delete the 'c'
out of the beginning of every line before posting.

Cool!

SO the space thing is still an issue (like on OLExp4), but the //file deal
does get eliminated. Hmmm, still not sure if upgrading is a good thing, but
thanks for the test!

Are you SURE you're using Outlook Express FIVE Starshine?

I've got the full release version BTW - 5.00.2014.211

That is simply the option to send in either HTML or PLAIN format.. it makes
no difference whatsoever to the adding of the word file to certain
arrangements of characters (forward slash, forward slash, character).
