am i missing something, when you ppl post your ascii i dont see anything but
a jumbled mess???

Yes, you're missing a whole lot. I see from your headers that you're using Microsoft Lookout Express as your newsreader. The best solution is to switch to Forte Agent or even Netscape Communicator. In the meantime, select all the text in the message and change the font to Courier New. (I don't remember how to change the default font, or even if it's possible.) ASCII art, like all plain text files, is best viewed with a monospaced font, as that is the only kind of font guaranteed to be available on any computer terminal ever made. "jumbled mess" ---> many readers annoyingly remove any "extra" spaces and as such you see a jumbled mess. these "intelligent" readers are supposed to clear up the messages but, as you see, you get a reformatted message. As for Outlook Express: there is a way to view any message as fixed format, but it only works for that one time viewing, if you change to another message you have to do this step again...EXTREMELY ANNOYING I SAY. Anyway, open the message then 'VIEW/Text size/Fixed' that should work. Interestingly enough, and worth mentioning, if you have mutli-lingual applications installed in WindowsWhatever you'll also see option for changing the encoding there in that menu. For instance you can choose Western or ISO, or 7 or 8 bit. If you don't have this stuff, upgrade to IE 5.5 of some other multi lingual software package. I view and post ASCII art from my machine at home using Outlook Express without any problems. Tools->Options->Fonts. Set both Fixed width and proportional fonts to a fixed width font. Lucida Console is my chosen one but you could equally use whatever fixed width font you want to. I have no problems viewing messages because if they are actually designed to be using proportional fonts chances are they use HTML anyway.
