There is a small program called Character Map for Win 95 and Win 3.1+. You pick the font you want. It will show you all the charcaters available, plus when you click the one you want the number you are looking for will show up in the bottom right hand corner. The reason for this program is that, not every font has the same special characters. So, to know what you are looking for, get it. It is a very small program and came on many MS Operating Systems. *PLEASE NOTE These extra characters are not to be used in this newsgroup. If you don't have this Windows program email me and I think I can tell you where to get it at. -- Peace, Donovan |\ SAVE THE WHALES /| P O E M S B Y D O N O V A N | \_ PLEASE! _/ | \ ( `'-.._ _..-'`) / Home of DA QUIZ! But if you have to type alt+anything then you're not drawing ASCII art. In fact you're using a set of characters which are specific to that operating system and are severely limiting your viewing audience. (In this case, you'd be restricting it to IBM-PC DOS users.) For more details on what is and is not ASCII refer to the FAQ. Maybe I missed the original post, but I didn't remember this person saying anything about drawing ascii pics or even mentioning ascii art. He definitely came to the right newsgroup, because we all know about them. I'm really sorry if I made someone mad for helping this person out, but it isn't a life or death question. Hello, does anybody knows where can I get a list of command in which i type alt+(numbers) to get symbols like "", "", etc. Pls reply to me. Thanx!!
Every1 at alt.ascii-art : My humblest apologies for the mistake which I made earlier in this thread. It was wrong of me to judge someone's (Veronica I think) response to the question which started this all off. The reason being, that, aside from the antagonistic way in which it was worded, I also was not in a complete understanding of what ascii art truly is. I do know, and my response seems downright stupid. Okay, this person was able to get help here but certainlu even admited him/herself that ascii art was not why they needed to know how to do the ALT+? character set. I had no right to even interfere in this ng in general. I am someone who, despite having subscribed, only dips into this ng every now and then. I can't even draw ascii art myself. Anyway, in conclusion, apologies once more and I'll only make another contribution to this site when I feel able to achieve something other than an arguement. yours sincerely, Derek No sig today, don't feel like it. u7l...@keele.ac.uk for any flaming you want to do

A common mistake, and a good reason to point you (and any new lurkers out there) in the direction of the FAQ, but I see you've got it now. :) > Okay, this person was able to get > help here but certainlu even admited him/herself that ascii art was not why > they needed to know how to do the ALT+? character set. ...and consequently that alt.ascii-art might not be the very best place to ask about ALT+? characters... > I had no right to even interfere in this ng in general. You have the same right to interfere as the rest of us. It is however a good idea to make sure one knows what one is talking about before one opens one's mouth... FAQs exist for that purpose and can save you from that kind of embarassment in the future. :) > I am someone who, > despite having subscribed, only dips into this ng every now and then.
