This is great! This is wonderful! Finally, I can view and edit
those pesky ASCII images that no matter what, just refuse to look
good! This even opens up the possibility of making them int color
images... I wonder if this can handle 3- d images as well.. Anybody
out there care to give it a whirl? it could be interesting... Thank
you Scot! This is a great little utility, why didn't somebody else
do this months ago...

I agree as well that this utility is very useful for viewing scanned
images which look like.....crud. However, I think this defeats the whole
purpose of ascii-art (referring to scanned images and asc2gray). Scanned
or converted images are good if they look good enough to see without
asc2gray. However, if something scanned is so screwed up you need a
asc2gray converter to see it, you mineaswell upload a uuencoded gif
file. If you want quality ascii pics to put in your .sig or .plan or
whatever, this should be a great place to get them. But if people start
making use of gif2ascii and ascii2grayscale conversion utilities then the
newsgroup name should be changed.
