What software ?

Hey,

I'm pretty new to the ascii scene and i'm wondering, what's the best
software for ascii drawing under windows ?

For beginners I'd recommend JavE <http://www.jave.de/>. You'll need to have
Java installed to run it, though. If you don't, just have a go with Notepad
or MS-DOS edit. A lot of people just use their favourite text editor to draw
ascii art.

Not exactly, Veronica.

Metapad and editpad are MUCH more better (rectangular selecting of text,
smart shortcut keys and yet fast (it loads in an instant). Metapad is
smaller (100kb) and *easier*, but Editpad offers a lot of very useful
functions of which I couldn't even think before.

I use Textpad :)
Ok I don't do ascii-art (not good enough), but it's very good as a "general
purpose" text editor, with lots a features.
It's fun to see all these editors chose to have a name in "-pad"...

 I agree :) I used to draw with it under Windows... but now there is Vim ;)

I'm sure they are. I just wanted to mention a text editor as an
alternative to Jave and picked one he most likely already has.
