why not check out www.acid.org and download Remorse ascii art pack #46 make sure you have an ascii viewer with a built in ansi driver you can grab those at www.thugelife.org download ACiDView =) this is the true ascii underground scene, and remorse is looking for members of GREAT ascii art, why not send me an email Pal...@hotmail.com or Pal...@acid.org if you are interested, and are GOOD if you use a GIF2ascii program or anything to the likes of that, don't bother

_.--- Palmore spoke in alt.ascii-art --------._ > way to go sparky you're correct an ansi veiwer Well then call it an ansi viewer and not an ascii viewer with ansi support. You can't mean what you say unless you say what you mean. > it's a shame you know nothing ekse about the ascii scene Make up your mind. Is it ascii or ansi? If you can't even make up your mind which one it is why should anyone go and check it out? As a spokes men for this you should be more clear on the story. > if you are scared of spam then don't surf porn When ever I see a note in a news group saying "send me an email" I think that it is just another attempt for someone to harvist spamable addresses. In rebutle... A. ansi/ascii viewer same thing, I refferd to it as an ascii with with ansi support because, if you know nothing of remorse or ACiD you know nothing of the actuall organized computer art scene. Also some ascii's do have extended ascii codes for shaping, where most veiwers (notepad etc) will NOT display these correctly, along with a fixedsys font. also some ascii I or others in these groups draw, sometimes contain ansi codes for color etc.... So that's great you know what it is but for those who don't, there ya go. all of you old BBS fans should recognize the names ACiD and iCE the big ANSI groups in the later 80's early 90's where ACiD created Remorse for it's ascii art division. Feel free to visit (REALLY needs updated, working on it, I just took over the group) Remorse web page for a full history of remorse^ascii www.remorse.org does that clear the difference of my topic ansi/ascii? =) hense this is an ascii news group, so that'd be what I am talking about... and the email would be for more info, or if you would like to apply to Remorse and be part of a true organized ascii groups with some of the greatest TRUE ascii (no rips, no gif2ansi crap) artist's. There's hundreds of art packs released over the years, you just have to look I would actually like to post a sample of my work, just tried, it came out like crap, this is not the true way to view ascii art as stated before you need a DOS mode (prefferbly) ansi viewer so please, before you jump to conclusions, check out atleast remorse pack 46 from www.acid.org or www.mimic.ca or www.thuglife.org or www.acheron.org check out my ascii (they start with pl- ) and tell me what you think, USE AN ANSI VIEWER =) and btw, if this is spam, or I'm a bot, damn I'm sure a pretty pimp arse bot =) so REAL GOOD coding and program for porn? shooooot KaZaa =) "Faux_Pseudo" <Fau...@yahoo.comERCIAL> wrote in message news:slrnap77f5.n56.Faux_Pseudo@fugozi.cx1209071-a... > _.--- Palmore spoke in alt.ascii-art --------._ > > way to go sparky you're correct an ansi veiwer > > Well then call it an ansi viewer and not an ascii viewer with ansi > support. You don't know me unless you've hung out in #ascii on IRC (only efnet servers) downloaded an older or brand new remorse ascii art pack (released each month, along with other ascii art groups) or downloaded a copy of my Ascii scene emag Cyberia and or Quantum (you can get it from www.mimic.ca archives or ftp.artpacks.acid.org and so on) this newgroup cought my eye, and seeing how I've done ascii art for 6 years and been a big part of the ascii "scene" yet I see newsgroups like this and some webpages with nice work, yet you guys have never heard of us, an organized art group doing nothing but ascii heck every saturday morn there's ascii art compos on IRC more then a few times a year theere's different Demo compos etc that feature ascii competions some with cash prizes all is part of the computer "scene" under group all the elite BBS's back in the day needed nice art, who did it? our groups, today FTP's and cracking/prirate/ other groups needs art who does it? we do...new telnet boards are popping up, who does the art? we do these groups have been around since the 80s, releasing art each month in most cases, the ascii "scene" I know is slowly die'n there's less and less new artists joining, I thought what better way to find new fresh talent, and to share what talent we have with other ascii fans I've looked thru alot of you're guy's are, and I'm impressed, so please return the favor, download remosre 46 from www.acid.org load up acidview or thedraw or aciddraw or any of your other fave' ansi viewer, and please check out my ascii's all starting with "pl-" (for Palmore hehe) and let me know what you think...if some one does look, share with the rest of us that you have, give an honest opinion and tell them to check it out too this isn't spam, or BS it's just ascii "Stephan Hensel" <inf...@infocore.net> wrote in message news:200...@infocore.net... > On Fri, 27 Sep 2002 10:01:23 GMT > "Palmore" <pal...@hotmail.com> wrote: > > > yet again, I must say yer wrong, far from spam bud, check it out for > > your self > > there's a whole other world of ascii art > > load up IRC join an EFnet server and join #ascii or #remorse > > you'll see > > hi, > > who are you? do we have to know you? > > lou > webmaster of asciipr0n.com

well as stated before the remorse web page was ran by someone else, I was in remorse packs in the #20's just came back into the "scene" and released again with remorse pack #46 actually now under my leadership that can be downloaded from remorse's father group ACiD at www.acid.org the only reason a couple ascii's where made into png files is to highlight them on the page, download the packs to see the work btw there's different typs of ascii too New school and old school, NS consists of .,sS$Sss,. so on OS is the ____/(/___ ascii you see I happen to draw NS pics, not really a font guy I have to say it, but the nose up attitudes I've found so far chatting with you guys is a let down. I'm trying to chat and share, but all I've gotten is BS, so why bother?...thanks for your time, I can tell where I'm not wanted "Stephan Hensel" <inf...@infocore.net> wrote in message news:200...@infocore.net... > On Fri, 27 Sep 2002 10:36:41 GMT > "Palmore" <pal...@hotmail.com> wrote: > > > You don't know me unless you've hung out in #ascii on IRC (only efnet > > right. > > > downloaded an older or brand new remorse ascii art pack (released each > > i had a look at remorse.org. i am not that impressed. most of the stuff > is converted html or ansi (art). > > > or downloaded a copy of my Ascii scene emag Cyberia and or Quantum > > no thanks. > > > this newgroup cought my eye, and seeing how I've done ascii art for 6 > > years and been a big part of the ascii "scene" > > is there a 'scene'? still? wow. > > > yet I see newsgroups like this and some webpages with nice work, yet > there is only one REAL ascii-art ng. this one. > > > all the elite BBS's back in the day needed nice art, who did it? our > > groups, > > i am glad you did not spelled it '1337'. > > > today FTP's and cracking/prirate/ other groups needs art > > who does it? we do...new telnet boards are popping up, who does the > > art? we do > > warez munkie. use linux and you dont have to pirate. > > > please check out my ascii's all starting with "pl-" (for Palmore > > hehe) > > have not found you at remorse.org in the member list. > > > and let me know what you think...if some one does look, share with the > > rest of us that you have, give an honest opinion and tell them to > > check it out too > > well. see above. > > lou > webmaster of asciipr0n.com

So that's great you know what it is > but for those who don't, there ya go. As stated, ANSI is a different standard. You are an ANSI group that has nothing whatsoever to do with ASCII. I draw your attention to the AAA FAQ, section 13... * ANSI,`extended ASCII' or `high ASCII', and non-Western font art. Many computer systems have an extended character set of 256 or more characters, based on the ANSI, Unicode or BIG5 character sets and having the first 128 characters possibly identical to ASCII. These characters should not be sent to news:alt.ascii-art because many computer system types do not display them properly, even those that do, do not display them in a standard way, for example, the Windows ANSI character set is different to the Macintosh ANSI character set. Capture and send a GIF of it to news:alt.binaries.pictures.ascii or put it on a Web page instead, and post a reference to it to news:alt.ascii-art. Alternatively, post it to news:rec.arts.ascii (see below). Whilst you havent actually posted ANSI, it still has nothing to do with this group. Do a search on google groups for "[info] alt.ascii-art FAQ" to read the full FAQ.

I'm not wanting to start a flamewar, but everything I've said in this group
has be looked down on, commented on or in other
aspecsts hated on, the only reason any sort of flamewar would be started is
because no matter what I've said in here
some one has to make a smart ass comment about, or point out some "tiny"
mistake that was thought that I made...
simple fact of the matter is, I tried chatting, sharing and hanging out....
but was laughed at, made fun of, analized, and shunned

Hi Palmore Welcome to alt.ascii-art. Thank you for your kind invitation to view the art created by you and your fellow artists. I have been posting ascii art here for 4 years and I have been downloading Remorse artpacks for about the same length of time. I also contributed to a few iMPURE artpacks. You have only been in contact with a few people in this newsgroup and they speak only for themselves, not the newsgroup. Flamewar like this happens from time to time when someone from what they think of as "the real ascii scene" meets someone who thinks the this newsgroup is the "real home of ascii art". It is so boring watching thess childish name-calling "my-gang-is-better-than-your-gang" attitudes. Let's see some more art. Good luck with recruiting more artists. Maybe I'll join a group again when my lifestyle slows down a bit. Peace. They're very similar. Don't be such fucking nazis. It's not like he's

I can't believe you've also failed to see the cross over in ASCII art
and ANSI art. You can't dismiss his group as off topic because they
use ANSI codes because they've also made a hell of a lot of really
good pure ascii over many years.

If I told someone to wear their favorite tie dye shirt to the goth club we will be going to then he is going to be really pissed of find that I misrepresented the situation. If he had clearly and correctly identified ASCII as ASCII and ANSI as ANSI and not requested an emailed response then this would have ended a long time ago. You say that their is little difference between ANSI and ASCII. My text editor says differently. I like some ANSI art. I don't have a problem with it. But just as Gogan and Van Gogh who where working together with the same paints and same scenes they are two different animals with two different ideas and visions. Because I am a person and I can see the parallels in the art forms.
Not to mention that all ascii characters are available to ANSI artists

They are, from an art perspective. Which is the perspective you will
find in an art scene. alt.ascii-art is not the whole scene. It is the
only place where you will find pure ascii fascism and even then only
for technical reasons.

No, POSTING ANSI is not acceptable in this ascii group. But a couple

not acceptable. That is simply not true.

Acid has always been a much bigger part of the scene than a.a-a.
And what's this about text based browsers? That's the problem with
guys like you. You fucking live and breathe ascii. You think ascii art
is all about promotion of plain text or some crazy bullshit. Your
inability to view some sites with your text based browser is not a

Being the root of all problems in this thread, first I would like to say
sorry, didn't think it would get this carried away.
I did feel shuned, and some what bashed after my first post, that's what got
my fire started.
But if you look back..
A. I never posted ascii containing extended ascii chars.
B. To get REAL technical, goto www.google.com and type up Extended Ascii Set
Searched the web for extended ascii set. Results 11 - 20 of about
340,000. Search took 0.11 seconds.
wow..not a bad turn out... here's some text I pulled from just one of
those pages..
The standard ASCII character set uses just 7 bits for each character. There
are several larger character sets that use 8 bits, which gives them 128
additional characters. The extra characters are used to represent
non-English characters, graphics symbols, and mathematical symbols. Several
companies and organizations have proposed extensions for these 128
characters. The DOS operating system uses a superset of ASCII called
extended ASCII or high ASCII. A more universal standard is the ISO Latin 1
set of characters, which is used by many operating systems, as well as Web
browsers.
If you recall I did state "Extended ASCII" was used in mine an others
graphics.
So chars 128-255 could be considerd extended or high ASCII or ANSI.
The preception of art is in the veiwers mind, altough some art may be
considerd ANSI by some
and not pure ascii, another may consider it ascii using the extended ascii
set.
Just because "our" reprensentation of each art form may not conform to one's
veiw of the Technical
aspect, it may to another.
"We" consider ANSI graphics using the block set of the extended ascii chart
( you would call the ansi chart ).. and also includes ANSI color codes.
Then we break down into OldSchool, NewSchool and the newly founded (due to
the recent fall in ANSI art groups) Block Ascii
Old school contains underscores and slahes etc to build the image, typically
a font.
New school is normaly done containing dollar signs for the main fill and
other chars, more likely then not, the extended ascii or "ansi" char set for
shaping
and Block ascii is a colorless version of ANSI
To really get down to the nitty gritty we consider ascii art containing
color to be "Anscii"
meaing of course it's our representation of ascii art including ansi color
codes..
All in all the bottom line is no ones right no ones wrong, I feel I HAVE NOT
represented my group
in an incorrect way, cause technically I haven't. I have been accussed of
ALOT since my first post
and to be honest the only correct thing was the simple fact I did get alil
hot under the collar and was a slight asshole.
This of course only after I was made to feel VERY unwelcome and
unconfortable.
On a side note the issue with the webpages.I do not build design or host
these pages, then are ran
by others in the art groups. I never stated Acids webpage as an ascii page,
but as a portal to download our art packs.
The remorse page is however now being handed over to me (the actually
"ascii" groups page under acid) and I would be more then happy to make a
compatable re-direct in "pure ascii" for non-standerd browsers..
But over all the simple fact is, it is 2002 there are Plenty of web browsers
for every platform of OS out there. The demand, existence and
availability/idealoligy of a pure ascii compatable web page is extinct.
So in closing, I would like to say sorry for flaming, but I will not
appologize for "confusing" ansi with ascii, cause that has not been done, I
clearly stated the use of extended ascii, and depending on who you ask (like
I said) it can be called ANSI or extended ascii. Me myself preceiving ANSI
more to be graphics including actually ANSI escape codes, color codes etc.
(reminds me of the old days ANSI bombs/keyboard remapping thru ansi etc)
And looking back, I never once posted my graphics, so the only rule I broke
in the news group would be flaming, but to be honest, I think anyone would
have been alittle upset with the treatment that was given to me since day
one/post one.
So let's move past eh "I think it's ansi, I think it's ascii" it's both and
it's neither..
Let's move on to sharing and working together and drawing more art and
exploring each others side of this tangled web.
Thanks everyone..chat with you guys soon =)

Irrelevant. Any primate can see that he is talking about what is
commonly referred to as ANSI art.

Well done.

Because before the days of Jave ascii/ANSI editors were all DOS based.
Any the most popular ANSI editors (ACiDDraw, The Draw etc) still are.
And to view ANSI in DOS you need to have ansi.sys loaded in your
config.sys.
If you didn't know this and you didn't know who ACiD were and what
they did then you really have no say in how ascii groups should
conduct themselves and what are and are not "major issues for the
scene." Newbie.
>More to the point why does one need an "ANSI

This is irrelevant, any person of mild intelligence would have known
what type of art he was referring to.
>4 = true ascii != ANSI
True ascii scene != anal.
>5 = ascii art != ansi art
So he's not allowed to recruit ascii artists?

According to who, newbie?
And who would take all that time customising a message like that just
for the email addresses of a few ascii artists wanting to join ACiD?
He would have gotten more addresses if he just went through the group
copying them from peoples' headers. It would have been faster too.
Why do you keep failing to see the plainly obvious?
